Pete Cormier

Pete Cormier (he/him/his) has a BA in Sociology, a MS in Nonprofit Management, and a PhD in Educational Studies.

Founder & Executive Director

As executive director, Pete manages all operational aspects of this nonprofit organization. In the last three years, he’s guided more than 250 mindfulness meditation sessions, either virtually or in-person and hosted 9 community mindfulness arts events.

Pete received training in Mindfulness in 2016 at UMass Memorial Health Care Center for Mindfulness founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn. In 2022, he completed the 6-month mindfulness instructor training from Calmer Choice, Cape Cod.

Adjunct Professor, Lesley University
(2013 – 2019)
Pete received his Ph.D. here in 2011 and taught four courses: Community Arts Internship Seminar, Arts-based Research, Donors, and Philanthropy & Fundraising. He also served on several doctoral committees and was the interim coordinator for doctoral study plans 2015-16. He is an occasional lecturer in the Environmental Arts program.

Adjunct Professor, Worcester State University
(2014-2017)
Pete received his MS in Nonprofit Management here in 2006 and taught Marketing & Resource Management for Nonprofit Organizations and has also been a Master’s Thesis Reader. While at WSU, he organized the first nonprofit organizations fair at the student union.

Managing Director, Cornerstone Performing Arts
(2008 – 2011)
Pete managed all business operations of this 501(c)(3) social enterprise that provided theatre, dance, and music training and performance opportunities to underserved youth in Central Massachusetts. He continued to serve as an advisor through 2014.

Founder & Executive Director, Sterling Music Exchange
(2004-2008)
He managed all business operations of this 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provided music training, instruments and performance opportunities to underserved youth. 

Catastrophe Analyst, Liberty Mutual Ins. Co.
(1983 – 2019)
Pete held various information technology positions during his 35 year career as both an individual contributor and manager for this Fortune 100 company. In his most recent position, he developed technical solutions to help front line commercial property underwriters evaluate risk from severe weather exposures (hurricane, earthquake and flood).
